Aikido North Instructor Staff
Derek Hedstrom joined Aikido North in 1996. A newcomer to Alaska from the east coast, he began assisting Sensei in the Junior's class in 2002 and was promoted Shodan later that year. Derek spent 10 years searching for a martial art school before being drawn to the harmonious aspects of Aikido technique. After finding Aikido he never looked back, and most recently made Nidan in 2005. He was assigned the Tuesday Junior's class in 2003. Assisted by his wife, Diana, he teaches weapons every other Monday Adult's classes with her as well.
Derek is also the Aikido North webmaster.
