The Aikido North web site is completely volunteer-run and runs on PHP and MySQL and was built using Fusebox 4.1, BBEdit and TextMate and was built and hosted on Macintosh computers.
The original site was begun in 2002 as a group of hand-written text pages and slowly accreted more material including photos, an interview, then movies and photo galleries, and eventually a database driven event system. The site was entirely rewritten in 2005-2006 as a tool to learn Fusebox 4.1 with the goal of reducing file clutter and making the design more flexible and the code more dynamic (and hiding some easter eggs). The site uses entirely open source software and custom built code. Administrative functions allow backing up the database, locating orphaned files, managing users, photos and movies, as well as automatically displaying and removing events.
Future plans: The webmaster is working on a new look-and-feel as soon as he steals a decent design.
NEW! The site is now entirely CSS-based (Bye tables!). You may now switch between themes by simply selecting from the list below (May need to 'refresh' your browser afterwards).
